The Winds of Oz

"The Winds of Oz" is based on an old familiar story, but with a new twist . . . All the lead actors are participants at the Centre for the Arts in Human Development. It is a model of social integration with Concordia students acting as coaches, shadows and supporting actors.

The lead actors were each given the opportunity to develop their own roles to use their interests and natural talents.

We combined the use of dance/movement, music/dance, and dramatic arts to elicit the actors’ fullest potential.

Our art therapy program supported the creation of the art exhibit shown in the centre lobby. Our educational outreach program kept the interest of school-aged children and exposed them in a captivating way to special people’s talents.

The Winds of Oz outreach program reflects the real-to-life lives of our actors - the quest for independence, security, courage, and a place called home.
