Romeo and Juliet on Dante Street

The Centre for Arts in Human Development produced Romeo and Juliet on Dante Street for live audiences on June 19th & 20th, 2004.

The musical weaves the romance of Shakespeare, the edge of Westside Story, and, as our actors suggested, sets the play in Montreal's Little Italy at the present day. In keeping with the Centre's focus on enhancing self expression, confidence, and interpersonal skills, the story's tragic ending is replaced with one of resolution, hope, and humanity.

The show was written and directed by drama therapist and CAHD co-founder Stephen Snow. It featured music composed by Shelley Snow, the Centre's music therapist; choreography by Joanabbey Sack, the Centre's dance and movement therapist, as well as performances by the Centre's participants, interns, and volunteers.
