A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR
AND PRODUCER
The Centre for the Arts in Human Development is a welcoming environment where individuals are fully supported in all dimensions of their personal growth through the Creative Arts Therapies. All the arts media - painting, sculpture, sand tray, music, dance and drama - are used to enhance self-expression, self-confidence and interpersonal skills. The play and the art exhibit are both outgrowths of our actors' engagement in the life of the Centre.
The mounting of the show "And Alice Dreams. . ." completes our fourth year at the Centre. We thank all our supporters who have believed in our goals. The art display and the show are the result of developing everyone's innate creativity and imagination.

THE STORY:
Our "Alice"...
For six months, we explored together the dreamworlds of Lewis Carroll's Alice 's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. We looked at the famous Tenniel drawings, as well as the 1950s Disney classic animation and the 1932 Hollywood film, featuring Cary Grant as the Mock Turtle. In our version, Alice is a modern young woman who works in a playing-card factory and struggles with her dream to become a singer. All the famous, delightful and scary characters of Carroll's stories become part of her own night-time dreamworld. Our adaptation, "And Alice Dreams... " is all about dreams - day dreams, night dreams, nightmares - and the courage it takes to make our real dreams come true in the face of adversity.

The lyrics of the song capture the message we aimed to convey: "Believe in yourself and yes, you can!"
